Terms of Service
Last updated: August 11, 2026
These Terms of Service are between you and 1602424 B.C. Ltd. ("we", "us", or "our"), which owns and operates ScanMyPantry ("the app") and the Apparatus brand. By downloading, installing, or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. Description of Service
ScanMyPantry is a food inventory management app that uses AI-powered camera scanning to identify food items, track expiry dates, generate recipes, and help reduce food waste. The app is available on iOS.
2. Account & Data
- No account creation is required to use ScanMyPantry
- Working inventory, recipes, and preferences are stored locally by the app. Some features may send selected information to cloud AI, analytics, advertising, image, shopping, or sharing providers.
- You are responsible for maintaining backups of your data
- You can use Settings → Delete All Data to remove local records and request deletion of known installation-linked server records. This does not cancel an Apple subscription.
3. Subscriptions
- Free tier: Scanning, inventory tools, dietary filters, recipe personalization, shopping list export, shared household pantries, and a limited number of AI recipe generations, subject to the limits shown in the current app build
- Pantry Pro: Unlimited AI recipe generation and unlimited items, with the features above included
- Pantry Pro is currently listed in the United States as US$3.99/month or US$29.99/year. Apple displays the applicable local price and any introductory offer.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase
- Your subscription automatically renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions
- Refund requests are handled through Apple and remain subject to applicable consumer and statutory rights
4. AI-Generated Content
- Food identification results are AI-generated estimates and may not be 100% accurate
- Always verify expiry dates from the original product packaging — do not rely solely on the app's estimates
- Recipes are AI-generated suggestions and may not account for all allergies, dietary restrictions, or food safety requirements
- Users with food allergies should always verify ingredients independently
- Do not rely on the app for medical, allergy, expiry, or food-safety decisions. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability or rights that cannot legally be excluded.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app
- Use the app in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations
- Attempt to access other users' data or circumvent security measures
- Use the app to scan, identify, or process illegal substances
6. Intellectual Property
The app, including its design, code, logos, and content, is owned by 1602424 B.C. Ltd. and protected by intellectual property laws. ScanMyPantry and Apparatus are brands of 1602424 B.C. Ltd. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app for personal, non-commercial purposes.
7. Third-Party Services & Advertising
The app may use OpenAI, Google Gemini, DeepSeek, Groq, Anthropic, Meta, TikTok, TelemetryDeck, Pexels, Open Food Facts, Instacart, Apple, and other service providers depending on the feature and deployment. Your use of third-party services is subject to their respective terms. Meta and TikTok may receive advertising-attribution events; Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission controls personalized tracking and advertising identifiers.
8. Kitchen Open Public Sharing
Kitchen Open is an optional feature that lets you publish a menu at a public web link. A shared menu may include the host name you provide, selected recipe titles, subtitles, emojis, cook times, recipe images, votes, and related menu metadata. Anyone with the link may be able to view the public menu and vote. Menus expire under the service's retention rules and can be deleted using the available owner controls. Do not publish names, dietary details, or other information you do not want to make public.
9. Shared Household Pantries
- Household sharing lets a pantry owner invite up to six members (including the owner) to a shared pantry stored on our servers. Members join with a short invite code.
- Every member can view the shared pantry, including the item names, quantities, storage sections, expiry dates, and display names each member contributes.
- Share invite codes only with members of your own household and only with people you trust. You are responsible for the content you and your members contribute to a shared pantry.
- Members may leave at any time, and owners may remove members or delete the shared pantry. Deleting a shared pantry removes it for everyone; members' own local kitchens are not affected.
- We may remove shared pantries that violate these Terms, are used to share unlawful content, or are abandoned under our retention rules.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT AI IDENTIFICATIONS WILL BE ACCURATE.
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, 1602424 B.C. LTD. SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO FOOD SPOILAGE, ALLERGIC REACTIONS, OR DATA LOSS.
12. Apple EULA
Your use of ScanMyPantry is also subject to the Apple Standard End User License Agreement. In the event of any conflict between these Terms and Apple's EULA, Apple's EULA governs. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
13. Auto-Renewal Disclosure
Pantry Pro subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual) at the same price unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Apple will charge your Apple ID account. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Prices are in USD and may vary by region.
14. Export Controls
You may not use or export the app in violation of Canadian, U.S., or applicable export laws and regulations.
15. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
16. Governing Law & Mandatory Rights
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada, except that mandatory consumer-protection, privacy, refund, and forum rights in your place of residence continue to apply. Nothing in these Terms is intended to remove rights that cannot legally be waived.
